WASHINGTON HAS IT BACKWARDS posted by Robert Hurt
Oct 28 2010, 7:45 AM
Individuals and families understand that tough times call for tough measures. During the recession, Americans have made painful choices about their budget. They don't want to cut back, but understand that they simply cannot borrow their way back to prosperity. They responsibly set priorities because they have to. Yet our representatives in Washington are doing the exact opposite. Rather than make the tough choices, Washington Democrats like Tom Perriello have decided to go on a spending-spree the likes of which our country has never seen before. Massive bailouts, a stimulus that failed to deliver jobs, and a new government-run health care bureaucracy have added trillions of dolla...

OUT OF CONTROL SPENDING posted by Frank Guinta
Oct 20 2010, 4:15 PM
It is the understatement of the decade to say that Washington spending is out of control. Hundreds of billions in bailouts, a trillion dollars in a failed stimulus and a trillion dollar healthcare takeover are driving deficits through the roof - not just for today, but for as far as the eye can see. The federal government is spending far beyond its means. What does this all mean for us? It means we have a massive federal deficit, more than $1 trillion in this year alone. That means we're borrowing A LOT of money from future generations and foreign countries. In fact, forty cents of every dollar spent by the federal government this year is borrowed m...

OUR GOVERNMENT'S SPENDING PROBLEM posted by Paul Gosar
Oct 20 2010, 7:15 AM
Imagine for a minute that you decided to start buying whatever you wanted. New cars, fancy vacations, expensive meals, the works. Put it all on the credit card and forget about it. Chances are you will enjoy this lifestyle for a while, but sooner or later the bill will come due. Now imagine that instead of coming to the realization that you can't afford this lifestyle, you keep on spending. And spending. And spending. Eventually those who gave you money will realize this can't go on. The scenario above may seem like fantasy, but in Washington it's a reality. In fact, it's everyday business-as-usual in Washington. While you may not be surprised to ...

TWO WRONGS DON'T MAKE A RIGHT posted by Daniel Webster
Oct 8 2010, 7:15 AM
When it comes to the national debt and deficit spending – two wrongs don't make a right. Washington Democrats and Republicans have both spent too much and grown government too big, leaving our country's security and our children's future at risk.Liberals in Congress have spent more than $6.1 trillion in 18 months. It is staggering. Unfortunately, Republicans are not blameless: under the previous majority, fiscal principles were ignored and spending was out of control. If I am elected to office, I will fight against that system. I will use the same principles that all families and businesses across America must use everyday. In these difficult times, they make the hard choices to cut...

UNACCEPTABLE MOUNTAINS OF DEBT posted by David Rivera
Sep 28 2010, 5:00 PM
Earlier this month, the World Economic Forum released its annual competitive rankings of 139 nations. I found the results of the report troubling, to say the least. The United States slipped in the rankings for the second year, dropping to number four. The WEF sited macroeconomic instability as the main reason for the lower ranking, and it's no wonder that the U.S. scored particularly low in the debt category. We have a fundamental problem in our country right now. Federal government spending is out of control. That not only hurts our economy now, it leaves future generations buried under mountains of debt. That's unacceptable. Every day the U...
