FEATURED CANDIDATE - ROBERT DOLD
Illinois' 10th District - DONATE NOW
A first-time candidate, Robert is taking his perspective as a small business owner to voters who want government to help grow the economy and create stable, private-sector jobs. Robert was born and raised in Illinois' 10th Congressional District. After obtaining a law degree and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, he worked on Capitol Hill as investigative counsel for the House Government Reform and Oversight Committee before returning home to work and raise his family.
Robert will fight to rein in government spending and decrease the federal deficit. The massive spending perpetuated in Washington has severely hindered growth in small business and private-sector jobs. After a $787 billion stimulus package, Illinois still suffers with 11.2% unemployment and a climate that discourages businesses from keeping jobs and adding jobs.
Additionally, the current federal deficit sits at $13 trillion and is forecasted to exceed the entire national Gross Domestic Product in just two years, which currently stands at $14.2 trillion annually. Congress currently borrows $0.40 for every dollar it spends. This is like a family of four earning $75,000 and spending $125,000 every year.
Spending at this pace cannot continue.
Things in Illinois are no better. Illinois has overtaken California as the worst credit risk among American states. The State hasn't balanced a budget in almost ten years, regularly issues bonds to pay for current government operations and has a pension funding crisis among the worst in the country.
Robert will bring fiscal discipline and a common-sense approach to Washington at a time when it needs it most.
